Self-harm and the internet

From the beginning of 2023 we have been working to add nuance to the conversation about self-harm and the internet. In particular, we pushed for amendments to the Online Safety Act and proposed Criminal Justice Bill. Throughout we have advocated for survivor voices, pushing for amendments to ensure that vulnerable people were not captured by the new offences of “encouraging or assisting” self-harm.

An open letter to government in collaboration with friends at National Survivor User Network and Self Injury Support. Here, we outline problems with the Online Safety Bill as well as possible solutions. The letter was signed by over 130 individuals and organisations.
